There are lots of programs around the web you can buy to unlock it for you - expect to pay around $50 tho
If you want to write a program, trust me - it's not worth it. It will take you literally hundreds of hours to make a program which will find the password in less than a week.

It is possible, but it is ridiculously hard.
Look at the "Wotsit" link below, they have a description of the Excel file format which is your best hope.
I will be amazed if you manage to do it
I had a try last year, but gave up because it is so much effort.

not quite - that's for unprotecting a sheet once you have got into the workbook.
Similar code could be used for opening the book in the first place, but it would take a while... The code I posted in that thread can take several hours on a decent pc, opening a workbook mulitplies the time needed so much that it's likely to take a week to find the password.

Try some OLDER version from openOffice. It can open Access DB that are password protected, so it might be alble to open excel-files. The newest version does certainly not open them.

first internet restrictions, then password protected files, add in the fact that you use gibberish l33t, i get the idea that you are about 13. Let me guess the rest. You have a restricted account in windows, your parents account is password protected, they have anti-porn utilities on the computer, and you are pissed off that you cant do anything.

I agree with you Derrick! All his question's revolve around breaking into something, and he asked series of questions that pointed to a key logger application, then tried to get us to download and run an exe of his...
