I doubt it'd be compatible with NTFS.

I need to run it after it loads kernel (you know the second phase of boot I think) . Sometimes it comes suddenly . I tried restarting the machine many times , did improper shutdown , but couldn't get it to scan my hd .

Look at the options for the disk checker, there's one to force a check on startup.

Goto your drive properties and then Tools tab.

No , I've tried that already . It closes immediately after I click "Check Now" . The real problem is that the drive is not accessible . I got a problem while it's running fine . Suddenly power went off . so I got this problem .

Wow... uh... That's a new one to me!

Your hard drive is most likely physically damaged.

I had exactly the same problem yesterday . http://www.vbforums.com/showthread.p...hreadid=252885 . If I could do chkdsk before boot complete , then it can be fixed . Although , I couldn't do what I've done yesterday . Weird ...

What happened yesterday was your drive failing.

It has probably completely failed now.

In windows XP chkdsk /r for the boot partition will schedule a check disk at the next startup. Havent tried it in win2k but worths a try.
