Error 1726 first time I try and write to a remote registry

I'm trying to write to the run once key of a remote registry, when the regconnect line is run it fails the first time with an error 1726 which i believe is RPC call failed. I have it retry and call and it works. Any idea why i get the error the first tiem around?
