    Q and A - suggested features

Firstly, let agree that there are a LOT of VB forums that are 'help' forums. meaning that people post for help, and they get helped. in fact, there are specific forums that are MAINLY for this. devshed.com devarticles.com to name a few.

So, I suggest that a feature be built into VB that places a tick, or a check, next to topics that have been 'answered'. THis could be enabled by, when setting up a forum, designating it as a Q and A forum. The creator of the thread, or topic, can then check a box when he is satisfied with the answer he got.

This is a genious idea, one that would solve the 100 views after the user's problem has already been solved.

People are encouraged to put 'Resolved' in some form or another into the title of the thread after they get a satifactory answer. It has worked out okay so far.

I don't know about genious, but its definitely not original, as this has been suggested about 6 trillion times already.

Furthurmore, why do you object to threads view counts increasing? Certainly, not only is the forum oriented towards answering questions, but its also set up to allow research into problems before you ask.

Do you object to researching a problem, perhaps finding an answer before you bother the rest of us with a question that has propably been asked and answered hundreds of times before?

I'll take a look and see if version 3 of this forum software has a feature to indicate an 'answered' post question.

I agree with some of the comments made in response to this suggestion. Right now the 'process' is to edit the subject line and put 'resolved' when a quesion has been answered. This is put on the question asker to do. Chances are, if they aren't doing this, then they likely wouldn't check a box or mark a flag that indicates the same thing. (They may be more likely if it is a bit easier to do, so I'll look into version 3 to see what it has).

As to viewing a post after it is answered.....
More people should view answered posts. People are encouraged to do this before asking a new question. They may find that their question is already answered.
