Hello,
My name is William and I am trying to install Visual Studio on my Home PC. Unfortunately it's not going very well. Apparently there is an issue when you try to install the suite more than once. I get an error message that reads cannot find file DAO350.DLL yet I goto the find option and locate the file on the c drive. I am open to suggestions. OH yeah one more thing. I have just moved and I don't have the original CD code or I would have tried Microsoft....

First you uninstall the current version from the add/remove programs option in control panel, reboot the system and try the installation again.I should work.Since i too faced similar problem while installing office 2000 over office 97.

still not working
So far not so good. I still get the same error (DAO350.DLL). When I go to install programs I can't choose from the list to uninstall. However after I go through the full install I can locate the folder for visual studio on my hard drive. The consistancy is the error message above when I try to run the vb6.exe file (no other files will open either in visual studio) and at the very end of the install I get an (ACMSETUP) has performed an illeagal operation. I didn't see an icon for head scratching otherwise I would have used it...
Thank you please keep the suggestions coming
William

I had the same problem.
I tried everything under the sun to fix it including adding it to the directory manually and no such luck. The only way it would work was to format the hard drive and then re-install. I can't explain why it worked, but it did. The problem is apparently common if you use a burned copy or had another version installed on your computer some time before or during. Try and get the first of the six Cd's back because thats all you really need. Sorry it's such a lame fix, but it's all I could find to solve the problem.
Good Luck,
Bill
