Visual Basic.NET Standard
Hi there
Soon i will start programming VB.NET again (did this a few months ago, but i liked vb6 better )
I am using a copy of VS.NET, yes i know i am wrong, but i only used it to see if i liked the new VB language. Now i wanna buy a legal version VB.NET, only problem is i don't know wich version.
I saw 2 versions here in Holland:
VB.NET Standard 2002 and VB.NET Standard 2003
Is there a big difference between those two, and are there any other versions instead of the 'Standard' version?
Is Standard good enough, or do u prefer an other version (if there are any others)
Please give me some advice, becose that software is everything but cheap

get 2003...it's the latest and most recent version.
AFAIK, "Standard" just means you're only getting the "one" language...i.e. Visual Basic.NET... and the .NET Framework, but none of the other bells and whistles like you would get if you purchased Visual Studio.NET.

Yes 2003. New stuff. Faster and better IDE. The first vesion was kind of rushed and was missing certain tools. 2003 is more complete.

Here's a quote from an article comparing Visual Studio.NET 2002 and 2003
When compared to Visual Studio.NET 2002, Visual Studio.NET 2003 is faster and more feature rich, but there isn’t anything included that makes it much more than a huge service pack.
Here's the articles conclusion.

Would that be like saying Windows ME is better because it is Windows 98 + 2?
