Abit Media XP Add-on...
Having purchased an AT7 MAX2 motherboard (see other post for the comments on that board!), i also added the MediaXP kit which provides front access to USB, FIREWIRE and headphone sockets.
Sound great? No!
The USB2.0 and firewire sockets work perfectly with any supported motherboard (be it Abit or otherwise). But the 12pin sound connector only works with Abit's MAX series motherboards! This is a pain when o/b sound isn't good enough, or you decide to change your motherboard like we did.
Basically, i've figured out the wiring at last... and thought someone may need it.
Pins 6&10 are sound whilst pins 3&9 are earth/GND. If you get them wrong, you'll get a puff of smoke and one hell of a smell... so be VERY CAREFUL! (All the pin numbers are listed in your Abit manual's, or in a PDF from www.abit.com.tw)
That's just the headphone jack though.... the rest i'll leave to you!
When i've finished the complete re-wire for my 7NNXP, i'll post the wiring diagrams.
Regards,
Paul.
P.S Don't bother asking Abit for the diagram, they won't give it to you! After all, they want you to continue with their motherboards!

Good Ol' Platypus
Hmm. Think I could do the same thing with ASUS' iPanel or whatever it's called? It's got some conections that are very useful...
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
