How to save information to windows registry? [Resolved]

Normally when we install a program/software, we register our name and company's name.
when we check the About menu of the software, the registered name and company's name will be displayed.
is this information save to the windows registry?
if yes, how can I save and retrieve data to and from the windows registry? can you show me some example in code?
if no, how it is being done?

one more thing, when u open the About menu of most Microsoft softwares, there will also be a button where you click on it will launch the System Information window. How can this be done?
