Unwanted broadcasts from the INternet
I just got Earthlink DSL and every day I get one or more grey pop up screens from some dink advertising health products. Can you tell me HOW to block this type of NetSend?
Thanks

OMG
Goto Control Panel >> Administrative Tools >> Services and look for the "Messenger" service, then shut it down. You will never get another popup again.
Note: This has nothing to do with Windows Messenger or MSN.

However, if all you do is shut down the messenger service, your PC will still be susceptible to hacker attacks. Hackers look for broadband users and can many times do considerable damage, including credit card theft.
Simple solution to that...
Change the name of your credit file from
All_My_Credit_Card_Numbers.txt
to
No_Credit_Card_Numbers_Here.txt

Just how exactly are broadband users more susceptible to being hacked than say, dial-up users?
All i can think of is a static IP, but any half decent hacker would have no trouble locating the IP of a computer on a dynamic connection.

Tap gently. It's like whispering...
