This might not be exactly what you're looking for, but it's a start, and you might find more leads there...

I've just been reading books to prepare for 70-306. I've been told to avoid the Microsoft books, but they have come out with 2nd editions that might be better(?!?!!?).

If you're looking at taking the exams required for MCAD, I suggest this book. I've read most of the others (or tried to...) and this one is good at sticking to what's on the exams. It also covers all three of the exams, so you don't have to go out and buy three books (or trade one in for the other ).
All-in-One MCAD/MCSD
Visual Basic .NET Certification
(Exams 70-305, 70-306, & 70-310)
McGraw Hill/Osborne
ISBN 0-07-213130-6
Cheapest to purchase from:

My theory to passing an exam is:
First you want to get a book that is geared towards the exam, and go over it so that you are loosely familiar with the material. You don't have to memorize everything, just be able to recognize what everything is when you see it in code. You need to be able to tell whether something doesn't look quite right.
Second, go over as many practice exam questions as you can. Get familiar with the questions, the answers to the questions, and the description of why that is the answer to the question. Go over the practive exams that you have until you get a 90% or higher, And you will pass guaranteed.
Try going over braindumps. They are the best free practice exam questions you can get. They are actually just as good as the practice exam question you can buy.
Get them at:
mcsebraindumps.com
braindumps.com
Try this book:
MCAD/MCSD Self-Paced Training Kit: Developing Windows-Based Applications with Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and Microsoft Visual C# .NET it's by Microsoft Press, I have it and it helped me pass the exam. I love the fact that it has code for VB.NET and C# in it, it's like buy two books in one.

That book really helped you for the exam? I guess I am more ready than I thought for the exams. I thought that book was pretty weak as far as information goes.
I have been holding back because I never feel ready.
