help!!! every download is corrupt !!!!!
Can anybody advise??
Every exe or zip I download from P2P and internet is corrupted.
Every one.
All of them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have no idea why.
I use Win XP Service Pack 1
I was having this problem before I added SP1 too.
PC is five years old, but wasn't having this problem til I installed XP a couple months ago. Seems XP related anyway.
Nothing at Microsoft on this. Don't know who else to ask.
Really driving me crazy. Using latest McAfee and virus dat files. Have done MBR scan in DOS. Nothing there.
Even the smallest downloads of a couple megs are doing it. Every time.
I'm going crazy.
Oh, I get most downloads at Kazaa, but have had this prob with internet files too.
Please help.
Thanks.

To help troubleshoot the problem, i think I would first see if it is your PC doing this, or a problem you are having from those sites. I would create a small Word. doc. I would then save that file AND ZIP a COPY of it. Upload both of those to a site (NOT one you have experienced this problem with in the past).
Then i would delete the files from your system. Finally go back and download the regular .doc file, open it and see what happens. Delete it from your PC, then download the ZIP file. Test it.
If both test good, then the problem is from the sites you have been visiting. If either test Bad, problem is either in your machine or your ISP.

Well, as I rarely download from the internet, it's really a problem of P2P downloading on Kazaa.
I know the odd file on Kazaa really is corrupt, but every app I download is corrupt.

Have consider to check modem drivers or actual modem ... If you are on 56K then grab some friend's modem and check it with his/her modem...
If you are on CABLE then check your cable modem with manufacture and also check the NIC (if its plugged in NIC) or USB CABLE or hub whereever u have connected it to.
Cheers...

Well, I have been experimenting.
I took one stick of RAM out of my PC and a number of problems cleared up.
Actually, I took the PC apart and put it back together, adding one piece at a time. I guess I should have mentioned, but there were other problems, namely sudden restarts. The PC was constantly restarting itself and trying to do chkdsk on different discs. Anyway, I've had the stick of RAM out for two days and no crashes. Also, I was able to d/l to medium-sized apps off Kazaa.
Only problem is XP won't really run on 128 Mb of RAM. It's crawling. So I have to buy more RAM I guess.
Does anybody here use Kazaa Lite?
Is it really better or more of the same?
Thanks all.

If it were that bad then he wouldn't be able to browse the internet.
Its even questionable if he would be able to send/receive DHCP packets.

I used a hacked version of Kazaa Lite with extra features.
www.k-lite.tk
I recommend that you check it out.

I've found that link before, but actually it is a broken link, apparently. I'll look around for it some more.
What I was wondering about K lite was whether it was the same as logging onto Kazaa, or a smaller userbase/accessibility.
I really like Kazaa, but the resources it consumes is unreasonable. Plus the adware.
Thanks again.

If you want KaZaA Lite 2.1 then I have it here...
http://wrack.mine.nu/shared/Download/A/B/C/
There is an exe file which is the whole thing...Or you can download in 3 parts done with winrar so u need winrar...
I used winrar 3.1 so not sure what version do u need...
I suggest you go for full exe...Also don't download it with more than 5 threads... I am on XP pro and IIS only supports 10 connections...

When I was in Changsha last summer (I'm Chinese) I could download and use Kazaa.....dunno why they would block the hacked version of Kazaa if you can download the normal one...doesn't make sense.
Besides getting pirated software is easy there
Anywho Wengang PM me with your email and I'll send it on its way.

That's okay siyan. I just found it Kazaa (funny, right?).
Wrack, I'll check again. I'm sure I'll need a proxy. Server blockage here happens somewhat randomly and illogically. It could be that your whole webhost is blocked because of a different site.
Anyway, thanks both

Just wondering that what is the point of having a random server blockage...???
Isn't that some sort of taking away ur freedom to serf the net the way you like as long as it it legal...???
But what the hack, you got what u needed...Glad to be helpful...
Cheers...
