When I say "Some of us are......." is it implicit that "I am......" ?

Yes you would be included in the 'us' or else it would be 'them'.

Hmmm!
**I am a member of VBForums. I am speaking to an external agency.**
"We at VBForums indulge in discussions that go beyond purely technical and syntaxtual questions and answers on MS Visual Basic. Some of us even spend all the time in the Chit Chat section discussing the movie 'The Matrix' "
Now, I do not discuss the movie. So should it be "Some of them spend all the time..." ? Does not sound right to me, given the previous sentence.

Once you have qualified the group the "some of" clause does not have to include the whole group therefore you would not have to say "some of them" in that case.

That's what I thought. So the answer's NO for my original question?

To say us means you as well, but in your sentence you are included as part of the members of VBForums. The VBForums is the us not the group and the people who are in Chit Chat a lot are the some. Us is the same as saying we, but in your sentence that doesn't mean that you are included in the group that are in Chit Chat.

Yup! So I was thinking. Just wanted a second and maybe a third opinion. Thanx you both.
