    OverRiding Closed NT WorkStation!!

I completed an application that I need to launch on several NT 4.0 workstations.

The application is set to create a folder within the C:/ProgramFiles directory...but for some of the employees their workstations are "Closed" not allowing them to add/delete from the C: directory.

On the other hand, I know that some applications such as Adobe Acrobat reader is availble to these same users and they have successfully installed this application on the C: drive....

So I was hoping that there was a way to override that mechanism, without having to put in a request to open all of these workstations....

    Thank you.

Take a look at the RunAs command / faciliy. This allows you to run a part of your application as the Administrator (providing you know the password).
(This does assume that RunAs is available on NT - I do know its on 2000).

    Or...
Create the folder outside the application across the network to the Workstations, usng Administrator privileges.

    Possibly in their shared directory???

I guess that this would work, but if I put it into the shared directory then I would only need to install it once....and then all in the network would have access to it????

Hmmmm... I/ll see if that will work....maybe I could have the users install the application within thier personal directory??

I'll get back to you to see if this works...

NO....I can not get past the registry of the MSSTDFMT.dll....this class needs to be registered...and I guess to register it I will need access to the C: drive....

    DARN IT!

Well if anyone has any suggestions, I am really listening!!!
