    Wave file structure

How large is a Wave file's header? I checked with Wotsit. Its so very confusing! Am I right when I say a Wave file has a header begining at byte 1 with a length of X bytes and the audio data begins from the X + 1th byte? If so, what is X ?

    TIA

    Regards

DiGiTaIErRoR : As BuggyProgrammer pointed out, I already have their documentation. Its a nightmare! They even call it the "b*stardised" format! Could not find an answer to my question there, though I have a nagging feeling that a wave file does not have a fixed header followed by the data. Au contraire, the data is interspersed between numerous chunks of decriptive and denotative structures.

    Anyone?

check the links in my sig - there's one similar to Wotsit, and there's also PSC (somebody is likely to have written some useful code there)
