    Ftp

this might be a stupid question
i am working with files created by another team member that have long file names

usually ranging from 8-20 by 3
like for instances a file is called

    plymouth2003_01_01.xxx (not sure what extension)

is there a way to FTP long file names, or should i just rename these long files to an 8 by 3 (PL030101.xxx) ?

    any suggestions please
    thanks so much in advance

That is up to the Operating System the FTP server iw running on. Some operating systems may not like the long file names, so it is shortened.

98/NT do support long file names.
