why do all forums look the same?
just wondering , how come most of the forums look the same ( same colors, tables, everything) ? is the app for this forum free, what is it that people dont write the program thereself and add what the need, and try different looks for it?
*** asking since i'm started writing a forum my self, thought maybe these forums have something special

The reason why is the software for these forums is cheap enough to buy and it has a lot of features you can use. If you were to build one, with all the features, it will take you some serious time. So it becomes well worth it to just buy the software than to create it.
With that said, there are a lot of us creating our own forums. I am too cheap to pay for the software, and used the project as a learning experience.

I think it all comes from Ultimate Bulletin Board and everyone wanted to create their own and kept the same basic desgin. And thus most modern boards look like this one with the same basic functionality and look

Additionally, this layout is still one of the best layouts around... I'm glad its so prevalent, because some other forums... you would freak trying to figure out who said what....

before this style, we only had forums that looked like this

where can we buy this program? can we get it with the code?!?
and where can i see all the features that it has, so if i couldnt buy it , have an idea of what to put on mine
i still think these forum can look better, i believe they have to much buttons! and it would be nice if you could see the main thread, and see the titles of replys, and onclick , the details of the reply are shown, it'll keep the page small an reduce the total pages, what do you guys think? how do you think it can get better?
