[RESOLVED] Problem with Vb 6.0 Package and Deployment Wizard
hmm okay well here goes...
I've developed a rather extensive high fidelity, multi channel client for a server I created. It involves an MDI form and a series of child forms, as well as Microsoft Common Controls 6.0 for ImageLists support and ListViews, as well as RichtextBox Controls and what nots...
I've created this client and packaged it on a Windows 98 box
Provided the client app for download on a commercial website
And my problem is that it installs fine on Windows XP, NT (All versions), Windows 2000, 98, and 95. How ever when I install it on Windows Me. The Installation shipped with Package And Deployment Wizard says Error, Files found on local pc are out of date. 2 options are listed, click okay (which will require you to reboot and run Setup.exe again) or click cancel and exit the installation.
I click okay, reboot the pc and it gives me the same message
Over and over again
no matter how many times I reboot.
any ideas?
Me SUX

Well
Use a different installer package.
INNO or Visual Studio Installer are free, and both seem to eleviate this "REBOOT" issue you speak of...
Remaining quiet down here !!!

I've had the same kind of problem with setup packages greated with the P&DW in the past. The only advice I have is to kick P&DW to the curve, get a real installer instead. Try InnoSetup instead, it's free and it's great!

Let me in ..
Well - sometimes this issues is a valid one. I've seen this issue while installing applications and a simple reboot ( when it asks you to ) makes things alright. Run the setup again and it works fine. So i cannot say whats happening in your case. After all the same setup is working fine on other OS's.

Thanx everyone
for your replies, I've looked into Inno setup/installation program and it looks kick ass compared to P&DW... ;o)
