    1 gigabit network card

Anyone have any suggestions for a 1 gigabit network card to plug into a PCMCIA slot in a notebook, i.e. type of card, where to buy, etc.??? Thanks

It would be a complete waste of money.
Gigabit cards will never acheive the full potential bandwidth on most computer systems - with perhaps the exception of 64bit servers.

    But definitely not a notebook.
Why not just get a fast ethernet card, and make sure your hub/switch is a 10/100/1000mbps device ?

Agreed...believe me when I say that the PCMCIA bus is rather...choked.
