Shame on us!
Someone asks you: "How much data can you put on a 3.5" floppy"
You say: "1.44 MB"
Wrong!
Here's why: 80 tracks * 18 sectors * 512 bytes * 2 sides = 1474560 bytes / 1024 = 1440 KB / 1024 = 1.41 MB my friends!!!
Now who was the full to do all the above calc and think 1 MB is 1000 KB in the last step?

That is usable space after format. Two FAT tables and boot sector take up 16.5 KB (0h to 4200h)

Again, no!
Dos boot code = 1 sector (0h)
FAT1 = 6 sectors (200h)
FAT2 = 6 sectors (1400h)
Directory structure = 8 sectors (2600h)
Remaining data = rest of disk (4200h)
Two FAT tables & the boot sector take up 13 sectors.

What? You can get at least 1.6MB on a floppy (use ADFS), and some filesystems get even more

Yes, you can get even 2000 KB if you leave it unformated, but I was talking about standard PC format.

Yes, but it's quite tricky to do from software. Something whereby you can actually use it properly

No it is not....becasue every 4th year you have an extra day, but that is not exactly, so every 400th years that extra day is not counted, and so on, so it is not exactly 365,25....

Year is actually 365.242198 days long. Calculating more digits is meeningles with the precison of instruments we have (theese say Earth rotates in 23 hr. 56 min. 4.091 sec).
So, it's about 315569259,072 seconds.
