    "Hyper"link

I'm just curious if anyone knows why a link is also called a hyperlink. What's so hyper about it? Why all the hype? I'm getting a little hyper here myself, so i'll stop, but if anyone could explain this to me, i'd be thankful.

The word hyper means overexcited. However, the prefix hyper- means linked or arranged nonsequentially.

It's derived from Hypertext. Hypertext means text that needs not be read sequentially but is interlinked with links. Because the links link hypertext they are called hyperlinks.
