Using old printer with WinXP [not XP driver available]
I have an old printer [Cannon BJC ink jet made in 1997] which has only Win95/98 driver for it. It is attached with my desktop computer which runs on Win98. However, my laptop runs on WinXP Home Edn. and I found that I can't install driver for my printer in my laptop.
Is there any way to recognize my laptop my old printer... The manufacturer of the printer has discontinued that model of the printer. So, how can I attach my printer with the laptop? Is there any hope???
Thanx

tried but didn't work.
Is there any way to make WinXP recognize Win9x version printer driver? It's going on saying that the supplied inf file is invalid where Win9x recognizes the printer correctly from the same inf file.

How will that help ? Even if 9x driver was installed , XP might not able to deal with it !

XP has previous OS's backdating facility. You can set a program to use 9X mode even in XP.
I'de try the 2000 drivers first...
What model? 4000BC 4200? 4300?
If you have a 4300 with the scanner add-on... it will not work under XP.

Paul.

that's true, drivers won't work in simulation mode!
So, is there any hope still....

Just thought of another idea but I'm not too sure if it's ganna work . Install the printer with 98 dirvers on Win98 , connect your XP machine to use that printer from Win98 .
