Question Looking to Page someone with data

    Ok,

What i'm looking for is a way to send an alph/numeric page via access/vb. How can i do that? I am not an experienced user of VB but i'm learning awful fast.

Thanks for any and all input on this.

what is the device that you want to page? pager, cellphone, what is it?

most cellphone and paging companies would forward your message (or at least part of it) if you send it to an email address. e.g. when i had a cell phone with verizon, messages sent to [email protected] were forwarded to my cell phone.
there are 2 reasons why i leave my work unfinished:
    (1) i'm getting old.

i am planning on sending pages out to people with different pager companies. Looking for a way to access a modem on my computer to get a dial tone and send the data. Not sure if this is possible but i have heard it can be done.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

theoretically yes, it is. you get a dialtone, dial the paging company number, get an answer, dial some more digits representing your message, and hang up. practically, you may run into some problems, depending on the answering features set for the number that you call. some companies would provide voice prompts, dtmf options that you have to dial before the message itself, they may change them every once in a while, and so on. the maintenance can become a nightmare. emailing is less susceptible to be forced to follow certain patterns.

ok, thanks for the help. I guess i'll use the email system for now but I hate to find out that some of the people i need to page don't have that service on their pagers.

    hmm....

    Thanks

Look into weather or not the companies have a website that lets you send pages, I wrote a progrtam that sends pages to Arch wireless pager users using their page interface @ Arch.com.
