    Ok, then I rephrase my question...

    Why do businesses like ASP so much?
    I think it sucks.... PHP rules... asp sucks......

    and it's just not that, MySQL, mSQL, and PostgreSQL are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better than Access!!!!!!

    hi dennis

    the reason they love asp is because most of them go with microsoft. why - I dont know, I'm in agreement with you that those apps you mentioned are better than most of the microsoft products but there just not used as much in the business world. As you full well know evreybody know's microsoft and they do give the best service (even though there buggy and expensive) and most Businesses alway's go with tried and tested method's.

    I could go on but their have been too many discussions on this before and I would only bore you. so on a light not Bum,*******,farts

    Tried & True...
    who gives a crap about that?
    Errmm. Ok, lots of people do, but I don't.... I have seen PHP & MySQL kick ASP's ass.... it's faster, and less buggy, and the bottom line is PHP & MySQL is better than ASP & Access..
    I am not really yelling at anybody in particular here, just yelling..

    but when I get my Biz started(I know I have said this dozens of times... but the domain will be registered in about 2 weeks) I am staying away from windows.... I'll still use it as my personal OS, but for the server, it's redhat & Apache & PHP & MySQL all the way...

    BTW, does anybody know how good Chill!Asp is?

    It's gonna be on my server as well, but i heard it's extremely buggy..

    i'm in complete agreement with you over PHP & MySQL kicking ASP's arse, and I wish more companies started using it but as the froggies say "C'est la vie". As for chillie asp I've played around with it slightly and it doesn't seem too bad but as you said it is buggy

    hmm

    i think asp kicks ASS
    sooo simple to develop
    just wait til asp+ is actually used with web forms ect

    bye bye php

    so i think "dictators" should give us a asp version of the app

    there is a down version of this forum.. but its not even CLOSE to this one as functionality..

    "hidden source"?

    What does that mean? Is that the opposite of open source? In that case, you're wrong, because PHP is OS.

    I mean if u right click the page and click VIEW SOURCE you woun't see the PHP (I'm not sure if its the same in ASP)

    and does OS = Operating Sytem, if it does, I dont think that PHP is that

    PHP = OS
    OS = Operating System,
    but in this case it means Open Source, dumbass!

    Open Source means that if you purchase a php "program" there is no way to hide the source, you must be able to see it, else you wouldn't be able to use it.
    what dumbass is talking about is, PHP is a server side scripting language, the server interprets it and outputs the HTML produced by what the script did,
    ASP is the same way.
    so is server side javascript, which I hear is not very easy.

    congrats dumbass.. you went from dumbass, to Megadumbass...

    you have to be one not to know what OS is after reading this:

    What does that mean? Is that the opposite of open source? In that case, you're wrong, because PHP is OS.

    dimava, you really dont have experience do you, PHP isnt "HIDDEN" it's serverside, in other words, like ASP, the code is never sent to the client it is "Processed" on the server, then the resulting HTML response is sent to the client, so you never see the code, and since it's server side, it's browser independant, if it were "Hidden" client side, I would imagine it not working in Netscape or vice versa, also you may wana read up on somethings before trying to call people idiots (or implied)

    I think it is probably best for discussion about PHP and ASP to continue in a slightly less heated manner in the chit chat forum.

    Thanks,
    John
