Monitor Ghosting?
Does this mean my monitor is going to die? I thought the air cleaner that we use in the office was causing this problem(since it puts out a electrical field) but even when it's off the problem persists.

take it home and see what happens
we're doing electric fields and stuff right now in physics and i doubt they can be residual but something might still be running thats causing interference.
if it still happens at home, then somethings probbaly messed.
could just be a badly sheidled wire inside the monitor...

Good Ol' Platypus
After you've removed the object that you think is the culprit, use the monitor's degauss feature.
All contents of the above post that aren't somebody elses are mine, not the property of some media corporation.
(Just a heads-up)

The only thing that i could think of that could be causing the problem would be the Micro$oft wireless unit for my mouse. It is right under the monitor. The air cleaner(ionic breeze) is off at all times when the computer is running so it couldnt be the problem. Oh and i tried using degauss and it seems to have no effect on the quality of the image the monitor is displaying.

A monitors degauss feature doesn't usually solve ghosting problems, as it simply re-aligns the colour guns at the rear of your monitor.
Ghosting is usually caused by bad signal or high refresh rate. Try changing your display adaptor's refresh rate to 60Hz or lower if possible. If the display then aligns properly, you may then need to degauss your monitor.
NEVER TRY TO FIX A MONITOR IF YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOUR DOING! IT CAN BE FATAL, AS THERE ARE CHARGES AMOUNTING TO OVER 10,000 VOLTS STORED AT THE TOP PANEL OF any MONITOR, EVEN WHEN SWITCHED OFF.
Also... check your video drivers, as Nvidia had an issue some time ago with regards a ghosting problem on the Geforce II GTS range.
Regards,
Paul.

Im starting to think that the problem is stemming from the video card. Im running an old 3dfx Voodoo I card.

it could very well be that the card is now nerfed
just borrow a friends card and see what happens.
