Windows XP and CDROM Problems
Help pleaseeee !!!!!!,
I recently got myself a new computer , pentium 3, 128 MB ram , 40 GB hard disk, 17" Flat Screen , Samsung CD Writer etc.
OS: Windows XP.
The Windows XP installed excellently, everything else is working fine
My problem is that I cannot use some of my CD ROMs that were created HP CDWriter . I changed the CD Drive with another one ( an LG) but I still had the same problem.
Interestingly the same CDWriter worked well on another computer (OS: Windows 98) also I could use all my CD ROMs.
Kindly advise....

What do you mean by "cannot use"?

RE:
What I mean is I am unable to access files stored in the CDROMs, the Windows Explorer window shows no files (ie: an empty disk).

I assume the CD's that were written were CD-RW's, or were CD-Roms that weren't finalised (ie: left open to write more files later)
in either case you'll need to install the HP writer software in order for Windows to recognise the format that HP use.

RE:
No there were not open. The same CDROMs worked well on another drive running on Windows 98, but I could not access them on Windows XP.

so have you tried the HP software anyway? it should fix the problem - assuming that it is XP compatible (if not there should be a new version that is on the HP web site).

Sleep mode
Why don't you try the internal XP copier ?
