    not corrupt ?

I've downloaded a lot files (more than 800MB) .I moved the partition 500MB . Then an error happened . I fixed it .Now the problem is : most of those files turned into a dos-like icon (although they are zip) .When I run them they executes like patch or dos files (show and disappear immediately) .The size is still the same . Any hope , idea how can I fix this ?
    Thanks

Hmm , I've heard there are file or programs that recover files themselves . Is this true?

If thats XP and you have set restore point b4 then just restore the damn thing.

Or try to rename it and give them ZIP extension and then try to open it with winzip or winrar. I would suggest winrar 2.80

    Hope this is helpful.

    Cheers.

If I would you I wouldn't have spent more than 4-5 hours on this problem then I might have deleted the partition and downloaded those files again and restore my data from backup...

Now don't tell me that you don't have a backup of ur data...

I'm not going to answer you... cause you shouted at wrack.... ... ... .. ah what the hell!

    Right...

£10,000 says you right clicked the file, clicked rename and added .ZIP to the end? Am i right?

Make sure you switch off "hide known extensions" in tools>options FIRST.

Otherwise, your just changing the filename to xxx.ZIP.??? (where ??? is the unchanged real extension!

I've done it... and felt a right twit when i realised!

    WRACK >>

Forgive me... just you have a MCSD logo below your name, and so far... every post i've read from you, you've not sorted anyone's problems. The "hide known extension" loophole is common, and yet you didn't tell Pirate to change it first. Do you really have that qualification? Don't go mental... i just wondered!

    <<

Pirate... hope that helps you m8, but PM me if you need further help.

    Cyas buddy

    Regards,

    Paul.

Is this my thread ? , Oh well (I really forgot it ), I've tired all that stuff and even more . At the end , I realized the problem is more than EXEs or ZIPs are corrupt (I found some of HTMLs , MPGs, VBs are corrupt too) . Anyways , I deleted them at last .

Since he told that he moved the partitions I thought that this might be something else other than extension.

I don't care what ppl think about me and my qualification but I know what I know and its good and enough for me.

Also don't claim that I haven't solved anyones problem. Find me a person here who solves all the problmes.

    Cheers.

Jamie There you go... found one! Oh... and Martin, there's another!

I've got nothing against you wrack... i just wondered how someone with so many qualifications could miss such a vital part of an explanation.

Sorry I couldn't catch you Pirate before you deleted all the files. Oh well... back to e-luna.... *cough* for you then

    Regards,

    Paul.

Jamie and Martin also asks questons sometimes that means they don't have solution.

I didn't miss the extension part, infact that was the first though in mind but I also have moved many partitions and never had extension problem b4 and moving partitions have nothing to do with extension assigned to files and they don't effect each other unless you move System and Boot partition.

    Cheers...

Hmm... seems as if we're arguing! :)

The part about Jamie & Marty was a joke...

I never said you missed the extension part completely.... I said you had missed telling him to change the option "hide known extensions" first. If you have a thought which may be helpful... it's best to give full instructions, and think of the outcome first.

It's almost like telling someone to format their hard drive, and forgetting to tell them to backup everything first, or they'd lose all their work!

Right... i'm off to rip some MS logo's too!

    Regards,

    Paul.
