    Question about Lights

    Hi,

The D3DLIGHT_DIRECTIONAL means that it is directional.
it has only a direction but no position ..
I am unable to figure it out..

Can anybody tell me what is the best way..
    I have objects at

    Planet at -15, 0, 20
    Planet at 0, -10, -100
    Space Ship at 0, 3, 45

I want them to be visibily bright...

In 3d MAX if you make a directional light then you can position it.. why not here..

    Thanks,
    Pradeep

Directional lights do not need a position. Every object that is rendered is lit in a uniform direction, regardless of where it is in the scene. The main use would be to simulate sunlight.

Directional lights are cheaper then point lights, as a vector between the light position and the vertex to be lit position does not have to be calculated. The direction vector of the directional light is used instead.
