    Quoting Package

I am in need of some help developing a quoting package for my manufacturing company. Right now, we are quoting with an Excel sheet and it works great but our needs have changed. Can anyone here help me convert an Excel sheet based program to Visual Basic? Thanks, Jeremy

I'd suggest using a web based interface...printing from vb is a pain in the ass from my experience..

    Toto,
I don't think that I can. This program will require dynamically built pages that will need to have the information on those pages stored for later use (to calculate totals and such) Do you think that if I emailed you the spreadsheet that you could give me some ideas? Thanks, Jeremy

Nah I don't need a spread sheet to tell you what to use, php builds web pages dynamically and you can use it with mysql to store the information, it's really very simple.

    Katuil,
I have built a portion of the software. I can email you the project, the source, some pictures or anything. I have made great progress over the past few weeks. If you'll email me your phone number, I'll give you a call. Thanks, Jeremy

    Details

    Katuil,
Since you are looking for details here goes:

The user will log into the system so that his/her usage can be tracked. Once the user logs in, the user will choose to create a new quote or look at/modify an existing quote. If new, the user will input information about the company the quote is for, the person buying, the part information and so on. If it's an old quote to be modified or looked at, the user defines what criteria to list search the Quote database for, then refines the search by another piece of criteria. (Not to well explained on that part but I can easily show you) One a quote has been opened, new or old, the user can create a product structure by dragging and dropping items and work centers from datagrids. The treeview created is written to 2 different databases, one for Workcenter information and the other for product information. That's where I'm at. Like I said, it would be relatively easy to explain this to you in person and I'll call you so it's on my nickel. Pictures will also help and those will be sent accordingly. Thanks, Jeremy
