PFC Jessica Lynch

By now we have all heard about the dramatic rescue of Jessica Lynch, carried out by the special forces.

There are conflicting reports as to her injuries.
Some say she suffered from 2 broken legs, a broken arm, multiple gunshot and stab wounds. Others say a broken leg, broken arm, a gunshot wound and multiple stab wounds.

She's only 19 years old. Considered an adult, but in many ways still a child. We can set here and type our opinions all day long about how we feel about this war, for or against. But this young woman has been through what none of us will (or would ever want to) experience.

I don't even want to think about what things happened to her. There are reports that she wasn't fed for 8 days, and that she was tortured. (I find it kinda hard to believe the broken bones came during the firefight), and the stab wounds would have to be inflicted at close range. Whether just after the fight or during her captivity.

Fact is, this is a 19 year old who is going to have to live with these scars (both physical and mental) for the rest of her life.

I wish her a safe and full recovery, and hope she can come to terms with her ordeal.

I take my hat off to the brave special forces operatives who carried out this mission, without their bravery, she may have come home in a box!

It makes me think that maybe female age limits should be older? I'm not beomg sexist or nothing..... but ..... I can't finish that sentence.

Surely 19 for a female atleast, if not both sexes, is to young to be on the battlefield?

well its not like she was drafted... when you join the military you know the posibilities that something could happen...

BUT... it is tough for a woman because if captured they could have to endure different tortures than a male POW would... which i am sure she did..

but if i was her i would be pretty proud that my country... on hearing from 1 man that she existed at this place... 6 blackhawk helecopters come in and a team of special forces storms the hotel to rescue her.. i think that is pretty cool

Strange nothing like that happened to the male soldiers who were kidnapped? Although, I did like the news headlines, "Saving Private Lynch"

But maybe 18 is abit to young to be able to truely understand what war is about?
