Windows Media Player 9 !!!CRASH!!!
I recently installed WMP9 and everything crashes when I want to play a movie file (MPEG, AVI, ...).
WMP9 freezes before it displays the movie.
After Ctrl+Alt+Del, WMP9 closes and alle icons remain white. The system gets corrupt and I have tot reboot the system.
I have Windows98SE, DirectX 8.1 with all recent updates installed.
I uninstalled the whole thing and tried to install some other media viewers... same result!
I re-installed WMP9...same crash!
What the h... is wrong here????

I don't think DX9 would be a solution, not?
I also don't want to re-install Win98 or even a "format c:".
There should be other people too having this crash problem, or am I alone in this world...

Why you don't install Norton ?? It might fix those errors (registery errors , system files ... etc ?

I know Pirate, but my Win98 is still alive and I don't want to fill my hard disk with stupid XP rubbish. (almost 1Gb for a simple installation!)
XP is very my gui style, I like it, but not on this machine where I'm having a serious trouble while viewing video files.

Seems no other options left for you obviously unless you change your mind to (Format C: )
luck !
