ftp using win xp (new install)

I had ftp access to my local server then I installed XP and now have no access.

do I have to change some settings in XP to get ftp to function?


I have tried using both the browser and an ftp program but don't get access with either one.


please don't suggest uninstalling XP, that's not a solution for me.

Windows xp has an standard firewall installed, maby thats the problem. Or u need to turn ftp access on in the Internet Exporer Options.

To turn of the firewall, goto: Network Connections -> and open ur connection properties, tab Advanced

i just had to change the mode to pasv.

works great now.
