I would recommend buying a book. Its easier reading a book and typing out code than looking at it all on screen.
Wrox or Sam's Teach yourself books are good.

I would not recommend buying a book. The internet is vast and full of free knowledge. Buy a printer instead.

I agree, all the books that are out now are way behind in versions of php it isn't funny. unless they have updated and are caught up but I doubt it.
