Hi all,
I think I have made my final decision on the 'Programming with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0' by Diane Zak book. Do you think this book will be good and get me learning (and remembering VB)?
Thanks

I haven't even seen the book but you will get out of something what you put into it. Copying code from a book is like copying code from this site. You have to understand what is behind the code. Some books just give you little fragments of this and that and when you are finished you have been exposed to some of the elements and that is fine. Other books take you through the developement of a project from start to finish and that is good as well cause it should give you and understanding of a completed project.
If you do the book and question everything you do as exercises in the book, you will undoubtly learn things so I can't imagine one going through a book on vb and not learning anything.
Other people's opinions are not necessarialy going to help you since one person's likes and dislikes are their own. If you think the book can teach you something and you figure the price is worth the something you are going to learn, then by all means proceed. The worst that can happen is you will spend a little cash and not get full value. (Hey, welcome to the real world.)
I personally have 3 or 4 books and I lean toward Peter Norton's Learn Visual Basic 4 as one of the better ones I have read. However, that one was on VB4.
Good luck with your studies.

Yes, go ahead and get the book. I started out with it, and I still refer to it. It covers all the basics. It doesn't go as far as teaching you the in and outs of database programming, but that is what the more advanced books are for (it does touch on it though). It teaches you the Development environment, and the fundementals of VB6. I believe it also comes with the VB6 learning edition.
