Try this...
There is a line in the BOOT.INI at the root of X (where X is your drive letter)
There should be a line which lists...
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000"
Try changing the DISK(x) & RDISK(x) value between 1 & 2, and re-boot with the drive on the other IDE.
Windows will be trying to boot to a drive which is no longer there! You must edit the boot.ini file before changing over. Some ATA133 IDE's detect this change, and modify the files accordingly.
If it still crashes after this... rebuild the MBR (Master Boot Record), which should do the trick!
Regards,
Paul.

Check the event log for more info - do you get a quick blue screen of death before it reboots - if so, that message is logged.

Get these: Mozilla Opera OpenBSD
I have books for sale: "MCSD in a Nutshell" and "VB Distributed Exam Cram" - PM me for details. Will also trade for a decent ATX Pentium 2 MB/CPU/RAM combo.

If you can move the HDD to another computer you could try editing boot.ini as Paul said or look at log files - there's a minidump folder somewhere, IIRC. You could even boot off a Windows 2K boot disk / CD into emergency repair mode if you're comfortable with a command line interface.

i believe the win2k cd shoudl let you boot into admin console mode. use fixmbr or something like that.

What does the system do now? Does it still crash?
Pirate's right... it should be as simple as modifying the boot.ini file. How did you modify it BTW... windows locks access to the boot.ini file, so there's a set routine to follow before trying any of the above.

Paul.
