Question "License information for this component not found"

After copying my VB6 development environment to a new machine I'm getting a "License information for this component not found" error for an OCX used in an activex exe. Recompiling the OCX either with or without the requires license box checked has no effect on this.

Any ideas what is wrong? There seems to be a VBL file present.

What do you mean by "copying"? VB must be installed! You cannot just copy VB folder from one machine to the other.

By copying I mean reinstalling VB6 and SP5 but copying the source files and as I said recompiling the dependant OCXs

I just had a similar problem at my workplace. Can you do a search of your installation CD's and see if you can find a VBCTRLS.REG file? If so, double-click on it, and that might take care of the problem.

If you have any custom ocx controls, they have to be registered again. only the standard controls get installed with vb. which files are causing problems?

Yes, I am aware of this. However.... I felt it would be beneficial to add the link so that other members searching for the answer would find it a little more quickly. I had to search back ever farther to find the answer.

You should have mentioned that. I had no idea that it wasn't current, as I don't normally look at the dates...
