I'm not aware of any way to rotate text, using images is probably your best bet. Maybe even using small icon style images with a legend at the bottom of the table.

t'is IE only and still acts wierd... I would suggest images as well.

Yeah I would go with the image too, just make sure you specify the ALT attribute as the same as whatever the text in the image is so that people wihout image capable browsers, or if the image can't be found, can still see the text.
