Who is going on an anti-war march tomorrow?

I believe there are marches worldwide tomorrow. I'm joining the 500,000 expected in London tomorrow. Anyone else?

Out of interest, is the march against war with Iraq under any circumstances or is it only against a war without a UN mandate?

I would have thought everyone has their own reasons for marching. My own personal reason for marching is to oppose the US and UK's resoning for war, with or without a UN resolution. UN resolutions have been broken by numerous countries....

But it's not just that he's violated UN resolutions, it's that he is considered to be a dangerous threat to world security. Countries like Israel and Turkey have violated UN resolutions but who would say they are a threat to world security?

Most people agree that Iraq is a threat and that he has consistantly violated UN resolutions that were designed to contain that threat.

War is not appropriate for all violations of UN resolutions in the same way that a prison sentence is not an appropriate punishment for all crimes.

I'm still not 100% convinced about the case for war but I certainly do not feel that strongly about it that I would protest against it.

This is true. However, the only solid case that both governments have in convincing their people that this is a justified war is UN resolution 1441. Any other case they have is either quashable or laughable (cf The recent discovery that evidence supplied by Blair recently was plagarised word-for-word from a student's dissertation 10 years ago).

I don't believe that most people think that Iraq is a threat at all. I beleieve most people think Saddam is a threat. There is a difference.

War is not appropriate for all UN resolutions. This is true. But I was under the imporession that the presence of troops in another country was as justifyable a war-scenario as any. And Israel have had military presence in Lebanon for 20 years. This is one of 65 resolutions...

I'm not 100% that avoiding war is the solution. But in the light of the events over the last 6 months, and the fact the politics have played a huge part to play in this issue, I am cynical, I don't think that the politicians can back down now, think oil is involved, I think votes are involved, I think spin is involved, I think the is an ulteriar motive, and I just have not been convinved by anyone; so I'm doing what every responsible individual does when they think something smells nasty - I'm demonstrating.

I'm doing similar in the morning, at the Borough Market Got some LOVELY trout when I went for a smoke/ramble with 2 pals in teh South Downs 2 weeks ago - it was beutiful...
