What is the best book to buy for a complete Newbie to VB?

Hi all,

I am basically a newbie to Visual Basic 6.0, and would really like to get to know about the lanuage. I am looking for a book which would be easily readable, but easy to understand, including getting me more into the coding of VB.

Any suggestions??

I have a couple books from SYBEX ... I think a couple of the titles are VB6 Enterprise Complete and the other is a VB6 Quick Reference book ...

I found both to be very handy ... the first talks about the new features and old in good detail ... the other is a great quick reference book ... after you figure out about Vb this second book is greater for learning things quickly.

I continually use my VB3 book writen by Gary Cornell. I see that he has a version out for VB6 titled

Visual Basic 6 from the Ground Up

Next time I am close to a book store I will preview the book, but I am sure it will be a good one.

My favorite Combinations of books are: Visual Basic 6 in Plain English and the VB Super Bible. These two have helped me out a bit in the advanced areas of VB programming.

I know Gary Cornell's book for VB5 was very good. The Visual Basic 6 SuperBible is pretty good, as is Beginning VB6 Objects by Peter Wright.

I used a pretty good book in a beginning visual basic class in college. It starts from the beginning and teaches you. Very interactive. It assumes nothing, and takes the time to explain everything. I have noticed a lot of the other VB books assume you know the little stuff. It is called Programming with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0. It is published by Course Technology and the author is Diane Zak. Good luck.

The Zak book is a great book.I have it and the ground up one and I found the Zak book much easier to learn with. Sean
