Proxy, Broadband and MSN Chat....
I'm using CCProxy to share my broadband on our network...
Our network is like this....
The problem is - the computer behind the proxy (PC 2) cannot connect to MSN Chat ( http://chat.msn.co.uk ) - it can sign in fine but when it says "Connecting to chat server... ," but it won't connect.
I can use MSN Messenger fine! with Socks 5 Authorisation.
But I think IE6 uses Socks 4, but I'm not sure.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

look under: internet options...connections...lan settings, you can click "use proxy...", and you only have to specify the ip address (of the other computer; pc1, in this case) and the port, which should be 6588 for HTTP & HTTPS. so you shouldn't have to use socks.
and is the pc1 computer behind a proxy as well? (i'm guessing it is, since you say that msn is working). anyways...i'm not sure, but i think it has to have the proxy running as well.

I'm not dumb you know ... of course I've set up the proxy in IE.
Browsing the internet is fine, all I cannot do is connect to msn chat.

didn't say you were dumb :-) ..but if you were so smart to set it up, why did you think it used a socks 4 proxy?

Well I think IE uses proxy 4 because I think proxy 5 needs authorisation.
I actually got ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) to see my cable modem. Only problem is... it still doesn't appear to share with ICS. I've put my proxy back on. Any other suggestions?

Make sure port 6667 is open, because that's what MSN Chat uses (IRC.. ).

Ok - so I'd be mapping msn.chat.com:6667 ?
