    Safe to delete?

Are these directories safe to delete?

    C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\0HMZKDER

    And C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Local Settings\Temp

The first one will probably be cleared if you open up IE and deletes all temperary internetfiles.

The second one will probably be safe to delete if you have no app open, and have just restarted your PC. But you can never be to sure with MS. Back it up before deleting it. But most often you can delete everything in it.....

I deleted all offline content, cookies and eveyrthing and

C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ contains about 5 folders that hold a lot of pictures and html files (Along with other files) that I visited, not recently but from weeks ago. Also index.dat are around 2MB big, I know they hold the sites u been to and I know that the clean size is around 16K

Ok, When I do disc cleanup on my C:\ drive. It takes really long and then just hangs my PC. When I delete a lot of the files in the temporary internet files. explorer crashes. Also some files can't be deleted, it says not found, like AMD%20%NEW%20.jpg or something.

As noteme said never delete a .ini file these are initilization files needed for windows and any program you install
but it is always safe to delete the temp file and /contentIE5 gets deleted
THere's also an option in IE that you can check and it will delete all the temp files everytime you close your browser
Most of the clean up software don't delete the Temporary Internet Files because they contain cookies.
It is safe to delete all the cookies in your computer cuz any app that uses cookies check whether the previous cookie is already on the client comp or not if not it recreates it every time it's not there.

I know that some programs need the INI files BUT do I need Desktop.ini? I have it in like each of these folders and it just holds a CLSIUD value. Also - If I go to IE and do, DEL temp internet (Even with offline content checked) folders, and clear history, the index.dat file is still there, and it holds a record of all the sites I been to..etc I cant delete index.dat because it is in use by w1ndowS.

You won't be able to delete the index.dat it will always be there
    but its contents get deleted
this file is where all the cookies are initiated and referenced
