Welp
........deployments included 40,000 soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division, plus associated units, and more than 4,000 troops from the Army’s V Corps in Germany, all of them headed for Kuwait.
Defense officials said the orders Rumsfeld signed deploy the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk to the Persian Gulf and the USS Carl Vinson to the Pacific to replace the Kitty Hawk.
The Kitty Hawk will depart the western Pacific Ocean within days and move through the Indian Ocean to join four other U.S. carriers and a British aircraft carrier near Iraq.
....................
Looks like it's going to happen no matter what the UN says.

Yup, but they have no chioce afaik. They can choose not send their troops but they can't kick the US soldiers out of Germany. They're still paying for a little incident called World War II. I think Permenant US military bases were written into the post war agreement or war debt payoff somewhere. Mabe some of our German friends can correct me if I'm wrong. BTW Germany has the largest number of US troops out of the rest of europe combined.

If Hitler would have called his dictatorship Austria instead, then yes that would be the case. I dont remember exactly but didn't the german and austrian borders look a lot different after WWII that they did when Hitler was born?

I do so love the attitude of simple minded folk.
Laugh, and the world laughs with you. Cry, and you just water down your vodka.
Take credit, not responsibility
