First:
I'd like to thank those here who answered my questions in the past. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite boards.
Just to let you know your efforts to instruct me have NOT been in vain, I just passed the VB Desktop Applications exam on Monday. (You will all recieve your consulting/tutoring checks in the mail soon.)
Second:
Since I see that it IS possible to pass these exams I would like to set out on passing the Distributed VB exam in a couple of months. Does anybody know a good study guide for that exam (book). The book I used for the Desktop Applications exam was PATHETIC and I don't want to repeat that mistake.
Thanks again for the help.
I hope I've made you all proud.

Microsoft offers a wide variety of tests (usually 70 questions) that you can take. If you pass one you are then "Certified" in that particular area of expertise. The Certification is something nice to put on your resume. It shows you have a good knowledge of the material.
It is not the same as on the job experience, of course. But it would show that you put more effort into your learning of the material than somebody else may have. IT is a positive.
The test I took was Visual Basic for Desktop Applications.
(Test: 170-76) It was a 70 question multiple choice test that I signed up for through Prometric. I took the test at a local testing center. The cost was $100.00
To past the test I took you'd need a good advanced understanding of VB with an emphasis on Error Handling, the Package and Deployment Wizard, the use of Classes, and the Common Controls. For more information on what is covered see: http://www.microsoft.com/trainingand...?PageID=70-176
I would highly recommend the Transcender.Com practice tests and FlashCards. I paid about $150.00 for that material and it was worth EVERY penny and then some. It really helped me focus my studies.
