Isn't the "Unexpected Error." error message just the greatest thing :-)

with the possible exception of the BIOS message "Keyboard error or no keyboard present. Press F1 to continue"

"Click STOP to Continue"... It was in an app to stop a task, and then go forward with other tasks.

...and if you run Explorer with the following: Explorer.exe /e,/root,C:\ then try to change address, Microsoft will tell you what they REALLY think of Explorer.EXE!!

    (Only works pre SP5)

Off the topic and not to do with computers but why do some of these people who make up directions think we are totally stupid. Ex. Open a bag of microwave popcorn and read the instructions!

I was amused the other day when we installed a new phone, set the time and the answering message, and finally opened the printed information and registration only to see "Stop! Read this manual first. Important installation instructions"

    Darn

(btw nice topic name. I laughed)

    ROFLMAO!!!!!

I know EVERY ONE of these glitches.. oh man... :: Tears down his face :: This is too funny!

    Here is one..

"Please hook the speaker to the side of the Monitor.. "

Once both are hooked up, you see this weird blob on your screen. You look in the manual of the monitor and it says to keep speakers away from the monitor..

I once put a support call throught to SBTECH, these guys have a 4GL for multi-value database, it was to do with a program crashing on field definitions,

    Their answer was

"That's not a bug, it's an undocumented feature".

I suppose this gives them the "opportunity to improve the performance of their software"

There was this feature in a magazine I read once that had stupid windows error messages, there were quite a few. My fave though is one that an un-amuased programmer wrote..."User has insufficient intelligence to continue, insert new user and try again!"

On a more serious note though, does anyone know why we are cursed by unhelpful and frankly useless error messages sometimes? As a programmer, I try to give as much info as possible in an error message. When the user phones to complain, I stand a much greater chance of solving it!

Lets hope Msoft get shot of crap DOS hangover messages in Windows...on another point, did you guys know ol' Bill Gates is not going to supply a Windows 2000 CD with your OEM copy on a new computer!! IT'S A SCANDEL!!!! HE BETTER CHANGE HIS MIND OR I WILL SEND THE BOYS ROUND! THE NUMBER OF TIMES I HAD TO REFORMAT THIS HEAP OF JUNK!! AND HE'S GANNA CHARGE FULL RETAIL EVERYTIME YOU FORMAT HARD DISK FOR A NEW COPY OF WIN2000. BASTARD!

Yo Knight, The news was carried exclusively in some PC Mag recently - I forget which one. There's been quite an uproar apparently...It said they MAY change their mind, but not looking hopeful

If non VB stuff is allowed...
My new car came with a manual too...
In page 69 it states "disconnect the battery before ANY intervention in the electric circuitry" and in page 71 "NEVER disconnect the battery, this can damage delicate electronics - take off the fuse of the involved circuitry instead"

Woho! Back on the Macs again...
The command could not be completed,
because you have already chosen Shut
    Down or Restart.

Wait until the computer finishes shutting
down or restarting, or quit all applications
and choose Shut Down or Restart again.
This message tends to appear on our Mac network when they all shut down for the night...the Mac is still on when you get there the next day waiting for you to press OK, at which point it then shuts down (when you now want to use it) even though it has stayed on all night!

I've got a screen dump to proove it...
