It's a little annoying that after I post it takes me to the page I just answered. There's really no point in that. I've already read and answered it, why would I want to see it again? It would make things easier if it sent me back to the list of topics page. I doubt that it's hard to change, and I would really appreciate it.
Thanks guys.

If it's about re-reading what you typed, why no use a post-preview? And then from there, agree to post it, or change to edit it.
That way, the "This post was editted..." message in the postings, shows that there's really something changed, not just a typo that was corrected...

id like to see a search by author option, that way i dont have to look for pages of posts trying to find answers to questions i posted, i could just type my name and see all the posts ive made in the past...

You can search by Author. When you select search while you're reading the thread. Then type in your name. Boom, there you have your posts.

In case you haven't found it, search is started by selecting the microscopic "search" label at the top of the page. Right next to the directory tree which will take you back to the main page.

What this forum REALLY needs is an email notify for other peoples msgs that you have answered. Its really annoying not knowing if u if your answer was useful. Also, as well as the yellow and pink direcories, there should be a blue one, for messages u answered, and green for messages you sent!

What this message needs is some feedback from one of the administrators... bu t I agree that there should be a Preview button and a Post like the UltraBoard has.

I can suggest a small work around for editing the post. Everyone complains that after you change your post one or more times you will have the Text at the buttom:
[This message has been edited by Serge (edited 11-04-1999).]
Or the appropriate message for each user.
The small work around is (in any case to have only one (1) Editing phrase shown above.
Solution: Each time you editing your post scroll all the way down and delete this line(s) [This message has been edited by Serge (edited 11-04-1999).]
This way you will have this line shown only once.

I'd like to thank everyone for participating in this topic... Lot's of quite interesting points have been raised:
Aaron - Our philosophy has always been that less is more when it comes to "cool" features with this forum. Although the software we use is capable of many of the features suggested, most will have a detrimental effect on the server, and therefore the speed of this board.
Crazy D - A post preview is a good idea, and one that wouldn't slow down the system too much. I'll pass your comments onto our techies and see what they can do
MartinLiss - A spellcheck is sadly unfeasable due to the huge server overhead that would be created... also most messages contain code of some description which would not be included in any standard dictionary.
blofeld3 - Thanks for highlighting the problem of the search feature being particularly hidden... we're working on a few design tweaks that will make the options a little more obvious.
jimdalby - Nice idea about the coloured folders, although this would again slow down the system big time.
Serge - Good point about the duplication of the "This message was edited by...." line. I've passed this comment onto our techies to see if they can come up with a solution.
Thanks again for all your comments - and please continue to post your thoughts for improving this forum.

I've noticed that on some searches... when there is a space in the query text, after the redirect is done, the url containes spaces and not +s. This can be annoying and I realize that it is not your fault, but it would be helpful if fixed. If you have no idea as to what I'm talking about... please let me know.

This is the best site that I know.
It's easy to post and read, and the layout is very clear and fine.

Personally I like the way the UBB works right now, added functionality can slow down a forum, (for example when they tried adding informative icons to each topic/post), and for me, speed and ease of use makes or breaks it.
This is definitely the best Forum I've seen in terms of speed and ease of use. Good job guys!
