installing VB.NET
I have tried to install VB.NET on my computer running Windows XP. It can't install because the Frontpage web extension client and the runtime files can't install. How do I solve this?

I have them all but the service packs. Do I need them?

I don't think so, I don't have Service pack 1 installed either and everything seems ok (I have XP Pro also).

How did you get it to install? Does it matter that I have office XP installed and not 2000?

Nope, I have that installed as well! My version of VB.NET is original, bought from the shop version, and it installed no problem.
What exactly is the error reporting (word for word if you can).

I can't do it word for word. I'm at work and I need it installed at home.
When it installs the windows component upgrades, it fails to install the Frontpage Web Extension Client and Runtime Setup Files.
I'm sure it will install correctly if I can get those installed, but it can't get past that.

Try booting in safe mode and installing from there.

I recommend installing .NET Framework first. It should be the last disk(5). If you've tried , I would recommend making sure you have the latest Windows Updates.
If nothing work , then install frontpage 2000.I guess it would install needed files .
