NEw chat client containing MSN ICQ , AIM AOL etc etc in one
Hey people. i once worked on a msn client called ultima msn , but that never really got very popular.. i use a program called trillian for a while now which is a client of ICQ , MSN , AOL , YAHOO and irc. But most of its features suck and it is very unstable.. i think it would be great to develop a program like that only with much greater options and all... if anybody is in or has suggestions (places to find examples) i will be pleased ....
Ok my idea is to create several user controlls each containing a protocol (client) they all can controll the main form.. i wil start on the main form. if you start with a client for icq i will start on the main form and maybe already on a msn client
Sure Jeroen, Im in mate. Give me the details over msn I think some of Trillian's features are nice though, like consider adding an automessage, skins (if possible). I will suggest more over msn when I think of some

Ok can now succesfully login into the msn server and also got some pretty nice features upto now.. Like enable CURSE WORDs.. with urlencode and urldecode i can use words like MSN **** **** http://www. etc etc without any problems of the server and that is pretty ace ...
Well chatopia is only the project name. we will come up with a new name when it is time to think of one :P.. anyway ofcourse not only icq will be in there. You told us you can do aim right?

And a program that creates skins. that is like pre made and all right? i want to modify loads of stuff so i dont think we can use that for chatopia
how about u add a feature that lets you chat with users on the same LAN as you, so super fast transfer speeds and the such are possible, rather than thru the net to them... i can help with that.

I was thinking of adding our own simple p2p protocol which i was working on before this project so that is a big YES that we will do that. thanks for suggesting that... any change you will be joining us with some nice ideas?

Only the MSN control has file transfer on it right now..
They will be compiled but extremely easy to use, if your interested let me know, I already have them done, i just have to tweak them, so it'll take me about a week to get them to you, also I can provide webspace too if you need it.

sounds interesting ... would save me a mess of code got msn 40% done now but didnt have a clue about file transfer... in what form do you give them? Usercontrols? dll's? if you got msn please add me by adding [email protected] we will talk allong then
i will work on the p2p protocol for Local Network chats. i pretty much have a frame work of the stuff, all that needs to be done is merge it into the main project. it will use TCP/IP because its easy to deal with. let me optimize the code a bit and ill post it when im finished.

come to think of it, its easier for me to add in the feature myself rather than post it and get it merged. how about i wait until the project is underway a bit more, then send me the source code of whats done so far, ill add in the code for LAN, and then re-post it back here.

perhaps its best to write the help file in .hlp format? it is the most common form of help file, but its only a suggestion...

Ok people.. i am going to work on a good skinnable version of the program (since everything is in user controls transfer should be easy.) but has anybody got an idea how to make a fully skinnable resizable program that also supports shaping the form and all? i am looking through Planet source code for some examples but dont have much luck up to now
well that example just show me how to use a single picture to make the shape i knew how to do that ages ago anyway i want to make one that is rezisable but also supports custom shapes and all :s had some examples but cant seem to find them anymore :S sigh
