    Connect Win98 & WinXP computers

    How do I connect my Desktop [Win98SE] and Laptop [WinXP Home] computer? What sort of cable do I need. Do I need any special software?

    CAT5 crossover cable between the network cards, or 2 patch leads into a hub or switch.
    Both systems need the same protocol running, eg. TCP/IP
