    ASP.net VB.net ADO.net

Should i just skip learning old ASP and jump right into ASP.net? Do all servers that support the old ASP also support ASP.net or does it require a special install aside from the .net framework?

If i buy VB.net Pro does it come with the .net framework that i can distribute? Like if i develope an asp.net website and the host only has the Old ASP installed would i just send them this framework.exe and they install it on thier server?

Also what are some Some really good begginner and advanced ASP.net and VB.net books that talk about DB programming with ADO.net?

    Thanks!!

-We have enough youth. How about a fountain of "Smart"?
-If you can read this, thank a teacher....and since it's in English, thank a soldier.

I would skip old ASP if you are not going to be supporting old apps. ASP.Net is just so much better.

I am not sure, I think all that is needed is IIS 6.0 and the .Net framework installed.

You can distribute it, but it is 20+ MB in size. Not an ideal solution. Thankfully, on MS's Windows Update site they have it available for your customers to download and install it themselves.

I haven't found any really good books yet myself. I have found this place though:
    www.learnvisualstudio.net
I recommend you buy the gold membership and watch those videos before buying any books. You may find that you won't even need to buy any books. I wish I would have gotten those videos before I bought any books, it seems that the money I spent on books is a waste.

You can download the frameworks for free at microsoft.com. You can also download webmatrix at asp.net. webmatrix is similar to Visual Studio's IDE. It's also free. I use Visual Studio.NET which I like. A good book is ASP.NET Unleashed. The index suck but it's a good book to learn from. I also use "Programming Microsoft Visual Basic .NET" by Francesco Balena. I don't use it much but it's been good to me.
