Exclamation Changes coming to Headers on pages...

I've made some changes to the top portion of the forum pages. These changes have been reviewed and are ready to migrated to the forums.

These changes will be 'lived' on the forums this afternoon.

No, this does not get rid of the big ad; however, it cleans up the boxes as well as changes the order of the items at the top. It puts the links and such closer to the messages. These changes are all based on suggestions from people such as Slaine, the moderators, and several others. I believe it already addresses The Hobo's recent suggestion as well.

These changes don't do everything I'd like to see done, but they are an improvement (in my opinion). I'll continue to see what I can do to implement a few other 'fixes' that have been suggested.

These changes are now live. You should note that changes include:
    • Coloring around the ad better
    • changing text links to the buttons so they stand out a little better
    • moving the links and search to below the VBWire info instead of above
    • making the vbwire box fit into the screen and design better

Not perfect, but a little better.

If you see something wrong, let me know. Either respond here, PM me at brad jones, or e-mail me at [email protected].

Thanks to those who made the constructive suggestions for these changes.

(I'm still looking into shifting things a little so as to take less space -- when the ads are not present.)

    Very nice, brad.

    I have another suggestion, though:

Especially when the ad is not present, it'd be cool to have a little padding on the left side of the 'VB Wire News.'

Notice how, without the ad, on the right side there's a bit of a space (atleast in IE 5.5)? It'd look better if the table wasn't all the way to the left of the screen.

Again, it looks much better now

That is a good suggestion. That can be done without getting the developers involved as well.

Are you allowed to actually modify the colors of the ad? That'd be sweet if you could modify it to actually match the layout.

I spend 3/4 of my waking hours here (and half of my sleeping ones ). I have an ADSL connection, with money being shelled out for traffic consumed.

So, would it be possible, that links not be images, please. Each time, one has to "Refresh" the main forum page to see the current listing. So the images get reloaded every time. More traffic for seeing the same thing.

If the above suggestion is not to be implemented, would it be possible to have the posts listing in a seperate frame with an auto-refresh of say 5 minutes or so. That way, the Advertisemet and the links for navigation need not be refreshed as well.

    Regards

    KayJay

The CPU Planet ad is just one ad. At some point, this could be an ad from any company. Thus, the ad could be any colors. I'll be thrilled when some ad other than the CPU Planet finally ad runs here . To summarize, I can't change the colors or what they say.
