    Applets????

I'm not new to programming...but wery new too JAVA. So I was just wondering. We learn applications in JAVA at school. But was wondering. Is Applets much harder too learn. Should I programm a lot of applications before I jump over to applets. Or is the only diffrens that applets are built up in an other way.

    Thanks.

Applets are no harder than other java things. A Hello World applet is nearly as easy as an Hello World app.

OK...I have started to read about applets now. And in my book it said: (trancelated to English...)

...it can notcommunicate with other Internet-areas then the Web page the applets is on...
does that mean that I can't open up a web page and read the html file. So how do you make search engine for a web page????

We have a domaine with about 1000 html pages on it. Is it possible to make a search engine for that domaine using JAVA....

PS....that will not be my first applet. I was just wondering...????

A search engine should rather be written in a server side language, servlets, JSP, PHP, ASP...
    That's not a job for a (client-side) applet.

Maybe I'm off for a blinf road. I have always heard good things about PHP. Maybe that is what I should start to learn. I will learn JAVA at school anyway. Thaks for your advice. I'm off to see what PHP can offer now.
